Started in December 2025, my PhD research revolves around the following question: what do videogame-ish works of art do? This project grew out of the convergence of two longstanding interests: videogames — a territory I have been exploring for years — and technical images, whether photographic, video-based, or computer-generated. More broadly, it examines how interaction with artworks can produce meaning through a particular kind of intuitive experience, based on action, response, and forms of engagement that partly echo the familiar dynamics of videogaming.

This research is carried out at the HARTIS laboratory, University of Lille, under the supervision of Erik Verhagen.
